Our after-school program is run by PACC in partnership with the Parents Association.
PACC (Performing Arts & Creative Classes) is pleased to offer creative, educational and fun enrichment workshops to Lefferts Gardens Charter School (LGCS) students. Our enrichment program is designed to provide rich and stimulating activities that will inspire students to utilize their imaginations and develop their artistic abilities in a safe, caring and supportive setting where each child is valued and respected. Our programming encourages play and exploration while seeking to regularly impart to our participants a sense of conscious responsibility for their actions and responses.
Students enrolled in general after-school programming will participate in PACC’s rotating in-house workshops:
KidFit-ness — Our group leaders will utilize a variety of movement games, dance, sports activities and exercises that develop coordination, strength and emphasize teamwork.
Wacky Science Lab — When kids enter the science lab they don’t want to come out! Students conduct cool experiments working on individual and group projects to discover the science in combining basic kitchen cabinet staples to make play-dough, bubble bombs, Ooblek and lots more. Math skills are sharpened in this workshop as students work with measurements to follow project recipes.
Art Explorations — Students explore and create through a variety of art mediums including collage, painting, drawing, crafting, beading, paper mache, etc.
Book Club — Literacy, Writing and Art are often merged in this class. Students develop their listening skills, reading comprehension and use story themes as a starting point to create their own individual stories.
Music Mash-Up — Music activities to foster appreciation for different cultures, music styles and genres involving singing, poetry, rap and musical games. Students learn about melody, tone, timing, rhyme and rhythm, and use memorization and their imagination to experience the basics of songwriting and composition.
In addition to our regularly planned art, science and movement activities, PACC also partner’s with local organizations to offer specialized workshops led by experienced instructors and teaching artists who are well-versed in their craft and enjoy sharing their talents with children. Specialized workshops are offered on a fall, winter and spring trimester basis and are open to all LGCS students.

Parent volunteers play an important role at LGCS.
The main vehicle for volunteering is the LGCS Parent Association, which organizes the school's book fair, and events for students. Each classroom has at least one class parent who helps arrange for parents to volunteer in the classroom, reading to students, or assisting teachers and aides. Parents with a particular expertise can talk with students about their specialties. They can also serve as chaperones on the weekly field-study trips to educational sites in Brooklyn.
